Platja d'Aro
The most practical resort town for Israeli families, with a broad beach, restaurants and shops along Avinguda de s'Agaró and Cavall Bernat, plus Aquadiver water park. Hotel Aromar offers a beachfront location, while Hotel Cala del Pi provides a more luxurious stay beside Cala del Pi. It is easy to holiday here without elaborate planning, though the atmosphere is more commercial and crowded than in the northern fishing villages.
Begur
Begur sits on a hill around Plaça de la Vila and its castle, above some of the coast's loveliest coves, including Sa Riera, Aiguablava and Sa Tuna. The center has boutique properties such as La Bionda, while Parador de Aiguablava overlooks the sea. It is a beautiful romantic base, but prices are high, parking is difficult and reaching the beaches requires a car or steep walking.
L'Estartit
A long, shallow sandy beach, Passeig Marítim and boat trips to the Medes Islands make L'Estartit excellent for children, snorkeling and diving. Hotel Panorama is close to both the beach and marina, and there are many practical family apartments. The town is flat and accessible, though less elegant than Begur, and many tourism businesses close during winter.
Cadaqués
Whitewashed houses beneath Santa Maria church, the Platja Gran promenade and Dalí's house in Portlligat create Costa Brava's most distinctive atmosphere. Hotel Playa Sol is a classic choice within walking distance of the center and sea. The winding mountain road and distance from Barcelona make arrival slow, while prices and parking are particularly challenging in August.

From the airport
Most Israelis land at Barcelona-El Prat: a rental car reaches Lloret in about 1 hour 20 minutes, Platja d'Aro in 1 hour 30 minutes and Begur in around two hours; a private taxi costs roughly ₪600-900 depending on the destination. In summer, Moventis/Sarfa runs direct buses from terminals T1 and T2 to Lloret, Tossa and Platja d'Aro, generally costing ₪55-85 per person and taking 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes; advance booking is wise.
