From the airport
Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport is about 26 kilometers from the city center. An Arriva bus to the main station usually takes 45 to 60 minutes and costs roughly ₪17 to ₪25 depending on the service and time; there is no train from the terminal. A shared GoOpti, Nomago or similar shuttle to a hotel generally costs ₪45 to ₪100 per person and takes around 30 to 50 minutes. A licensed taxi booked at the desk or in advance normally costs ₪120 to ₪190 to the center and takes 25 to 35 minutes; Uber does not operate here in the usual way, so do not rely on it.
Need a car?
A car is unnecessary within Ljubljana: the center is compact, much of the Old Town is pedestrianized, and buses plus BicikeLJ bicycles cover the neighborhoods well. Couples and younger visitors spending two or three days in town will save money and hassle without one; families can also manage with taxis and buses. A rental becomes worthwhile for Lake Bled, Bohinj, Postojna Cave, Predjama Castle or the Soča Valley, and it is best collected on departure morning and returned before a central-city stay.

Download Urbana or obtain an Urbana card for city buses; passengers generally cannot simply board and pay the driver in cash. Use Metro Taxi or Taxi Laguna and request a quoted fare, since an unbooked cab near the station may charge more.
