Ljubljana Airport is about 25 to 30 minutes from the city center: a pre-booked taxi generally costs ₪110-170, while shared GoOpti transfers start around ₪45-90 per person. A Nomago bus to Ljubljana AP takes roughly 45 to 55 minutes and costs about ₪16-25; there is no direct airport train, and using the nearby Kranj station is inconvenient for most visitors. Bled is around 30 to 40 minutes away by taxi or private transfer, normally ₪160-240 per vehicle, or reachable by bus with a change in Kranj or Ljubljana; a pre-booked transfer to Piran or Portorož takes 90 to 120 minutes and usually costs ₪350-550 per vehicle. Need a car?
A car is unnecessary for a Ljubljana city stay with an organized Bled excursion, and it is mostly a burden in the capital because of pedestrian zones and parking. For families or anyone combining Bled, Bohinj, Vršič Pass, the Soča Valley, Postojna Cave and the coast in five or six days, a rental car saves hours and is strongly recommended. Couples can use trains and buses between Ljubljana, Bled and Piran, but lose the flexibility to stop at places such as Vintgar Gorge, Zelenci and Predjama.

Buy the motorway e-vignette only from the official evinjeta.dars.si website and confirm that your rental already includes it; crossing into Italy, Austria or Croatia requires rental-company approval and may cost extra. In Ljubljana, use Kongresni trg garage or Tivoli parking and continue on foot; for Piran, leave the car at Fornače or Arze and take the shuttle. Vršič Pass is narrow and winding with 50 hairpin bends, so depart before 08:00 in summer and check snow closures; check wind and operating status for the Vogel cable car that morning.
