- 🚋Tram 28 is a classic tourist trap — crowded and a pickpocket favorite. Instead, take bus 37, which covers the same historic neighborhoods, is almost always empty, and offers better panoramic views from the window.
- 🍷Don't drink Port at the riverside lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia — prices are inflated by 40%. Instead, walk into one of the Garrafeira wine shops near Bolhão market, where excellent bottles go for ₪30–₪60 and the staff will tell you exactly what you're drinking.
- 🌊The best beach near Porto is Praia de Matosinhos, not Praia de Foz. It's easier to reach by metro (Line A, Matosinhos Sul stop), the water is cleaner, and the surrounding neighborhood — full of fishermen and massive seafood restaurants — is part of the experience.
