Getting around
From the airport
Humberto Delgado Airport is within the city. The red metro line reaches Saldanha in about 20 minutes for roughly ₪8-12 including a reusable card; reaching Baixa or Chiado requires a transfer and takes around 30-40 minutes. A taxi or ride-hailing car to the center usually costs ₪35-70 and takes about 20-30 minutes, longer during rush hour.
Need a car?
You do not need a car within Lisbon. Streets are narrow and hilly, parking is expensive, and the metro, trams, buses and trains cover the city, Sintra and Cascais well. Rent only when beginning a road trip beyond the metropolitan area.
Tips
Load a Navegante Occasional card with zapping credit when combining metro, buses and trams. Tram 28 is scenic but crowded and prone to pickpocketing, so board early in the morning or ride only a short section rather than waiting in the long central queue.
