Why stay in Syracuse?

Syracuse is a Sicilian escape for travelers who want a magnificent old city, clear sea and a gentler pace than a conventional city break. Most Israelis fly into Catania, rent a car and stay on Ortigia, where stone lanes, the Baroque cathedral and the Lungomare Alfeo waterfront meet beside the water. Mornings are for Ortigia Market or the Greek Theatre in Neapolis Archaeological Park, followed by an afternoon at Arenella or Fontane Bianche.
