🇬🇷Rhodes
🇬🇷Greece
Rhodes is where turquoise Aegean water meets six-century-old medieval walls, spice-filled bazaars, and beaches that stretch endlessly into the horizon. Its UNESCO-listed Old Town hides intimate tavernas serving grilled octopus and ice-cold retsina around every cobblestone corner. This is a destination that pulls off ancient and breezy, romantic and family-friendly, all at once — effortlessly.

Local tips
Good to know about Rhodes
- 🏛️The Old City of Rhodes is divided into distinct quarters — don't miss the historic Jewish Quarter (La Juderia) with Kahal Shalom Synagogue, one of the oldest still-standing synagogues in Europe. Free entry in the morning hours.
- 🛵Rent a scooter at Mandraki Harbor (around ₪80–100/day) and ride to Faliraki beach before 09:00 — the shores are completely empty. After 11:00 it's packed with tourists.
- 🍷For local island wine, look for the CAIR label (Cooperative Agricultural Association of Rhodes) — the island's authentic cooperative winery since 1928. A bottle costs around ₪35 at a local supermarket, less than half the restaurant price.
- 🌅Lindos village is swamped at noon, but arrive after 17:00 (after the tour buses leave) and you'll have the village nearly to yourself. Coffee in the main square costs under ₪20 and the Acropolis view at sunset is worth every second.

"Rhodes isn't just beaches — it's three thousand years of history you can actually touch. My secret: I split the visit between the Old City at night, the inland villages by day, and treat the beach as a bonus. That's when everything opens up differently."
Loves
I'm obsessed with the village of Embonas in the heart of the Attavyros mountains. There's a tiny winery called Anastasia Triandafyllou that produces local Athiri wine from grapes grown only at 800m altitude. They don't sell online — only from the farm. I keep this one for my groups only.
Skip
Faliraki's Old Town Bar Street at night — a world of drinking British tourists and pop music blasting from speakers. There is nothing authentically Greek there. Anyone looking for local atmosphere will waste two hours of their life and leave disappointed. Socratous Street in the Old City is the right alternative.
Boutique pick
My signature experience is called 'Rhodes from the Inside': a full day starting with a private tour of the Jewish Quarter with a local guide (a descendant of pre-war Rhodes Jews), continuing to fresh produce at the Municipal Market by the Sponge Docks, then a home cooking workshop with a Greek family in the village of Archangelos — making moussaka and pitaroudia (local chickpea fritters). Around ₪650 per person, all inclusive.
Client stories
What returning travelers say about Rhodes
"We booked Maya's experience with the Jewish Quarter tour and the local guide was incredibly moving — she showed us names from the Holocaust engraved on the synagogue wall. We ate pitaroudia in Archangelos that were the best we've ever had. Rhodes completely surprised us."
Noa & Gil Levi, Tel Aviv

"We traveled with three kids aged 7, 10 and 13. The Old City was fantastic — the kids imagined themselves as knights on the Street of the Knights. Anthony Quinn Bay with water as clear as a pool — the kids refused to leave. We will definitely return."
The Cohen Family, Herzliya
Family (2 adults + 3 children) | 6 nights | June
"My first solo trip — I knew Rhodes was right for me because it's an island with real history, not just parties. I rented a scooter at Mandraki and covered all the northern coastal villages in the morning. I had Greek coffee in Ialysos with monks from the local monastery. An experience you won't find in any guidebook."

FAQ
Common questions about Rhodes
Do Israelis need a visa to enter Greece / Rhodes?
No. Greece is a Schengen member and Israeli passport holders enter without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Make sure your passport is valid for at least 3 months beyond your departure date from Greece. No ETA or additional form is required.
What is the best time of year to visit Rhodes?
May–June and September–October are perfect. The sea is warm (24–26°C), the island is less crowded than July–August, and hotel prices are 30–40% lower. July–August is peak season with heat above 35°C and maximum tourist volume. November–March: quiet, cheap, but some restaurants are closed.
How many days should you spend in Rhodes?
For a full experience — 5 nights is ideal. Two days for the Old City and Mandraki (museums and food), one day for Lindos and Anthony Quinn Bay, one day for inland villages (Embonas, Archangelos), and one free beach day. Three nights is a reasonable minimum if you're time-limited.
What is a realistic daily budget for an Israeli couple in Rhodes?
Base: 3-star hotel in the Old City — ₪450–700/night in shoulder season. Meals: ₪150–200 per person for a full day (breakfast, lunch meze, sit-down dinner). Transport/activities: ₪100–150 per person per day. Realistic total for a couple: ₪1,200–1,800/day including accommodation. A good dinner for two in the Jewish Quarter: ₪250–350 including wine.
