Hotels such as Sokratis Hotel offer a convenient, relatively affordable base with quick access to the roads toward Kassandra and Sithonia. Its beach is less impressive than the lagoons farther down the peninsulas, and evenings are fairly quiet.
Kallithea, Kassandra
Kassandra's energetic hub, with restaurants and shops along the main street, access down to Kallithea Beach, and major clubs such as Ahoy and Pearl on the road toward Kriopigi. Ammon Zeus Luxury Beach Hotel sits directly on the sand beside the Temple of Ammon Zeus, making it easy to combine beach time and the center without driving at night. In July and August it is crowded, music runs late, and parking is difficult.
Hanioti or Pefkochori, Kassandra
Two lively, convenient resorts with organized beaches, pedestrian lanes, ice-cream shops, and clothing and souvenir stores open late. Hanioti revolves around its square and promenade, while Pefkochori's seafront lane and marina fill up at night; Domes Noruz Kassandra suits couples, and Alia Palace sits uphill with a view. Everything is easy to reach, but the centers are noisy and crowded in peak summer.
Sani
Sani Resort is a polished enclave around Sani Marina, with Sani Beach, hotels including Porto Sani and Sani Dunes, restaurants, boutiques, children's clubs, and manicured beaches. You can spend an entire holiday here without leaving, including a sunset walk toward Stavronikita Tower. Prices are among the highest in northern Greece, and the secluded resort atmosphere is not ideal for anyone seeking an authentic Greek town.
Nikiti, Sithonia
The most practical base for Sithonia's beaches, with a long restaurant-lined promenade, a small harbor, and a stone old town around Agios Nikitas Church. Hotels such as Royalty Suites are close to the sea, and Kalogria, Lagomandra, and Vourvourou's lagoons are within easy reach. The promenade is busy and noisy in August, and a car is still essential for the finest beaches.
Vourvourou, Sithonia
A quiet, green shoreline facing the Diaporos islands, with shallow water at Karidi Beach and small rental boats that can be driven without a license in permitted areas. Ekies All Senses Resort is the area's design-led anchor, alongside holiday apartments and tavernas scattered along the main road. There is no true walkable center or nightlife, and reaching restaurants and beaches requires a car.

Arrival and Nikiti introduction
Collect a car at SKG and drive about 75 minutes to Nikiti, stopping to stock up at the large Masoutis supermarket near the town entrance. Spend the afternoon strolling the promenade and swimming at Nikiti Beach, an easy choice for arrival day. Before sunset, climb into the old town around Agios Nikitas Church, among stone houses and the little square. Return to the promenade for dinner, or cook at the apartment if keeping kosher.

Sithonia's golden beaches
Leave before 09:00 for Kalogria Beach to secure parking and calm water, then continue to Koviou or Lagomandra for the rest of the beach day. Reserve loungers at a beach club if shade and service matter, or bring an umbrella and cooler for the public section. At lunch, stop at a Neos Marmaras taverna and choose vegetarian dishes, salads, or fish according to your own kosher practice. In the evening, stroll around Neos Marmaras harbor and watch the sun drop behind Kassandra.

Vourvourou boat and Diaporos Island
Reach Vourvourou by 08:30 and rent a small license-free boat after a proper briefing and wind check. Cruise the sheltered waters around Diaporos, stopping at the Blue Lagoon and coves such as Myrsini, with water, fruit, and supermarket food onboard. Return the boat in the afternoon and move to Karidi Beach for shallow swimming among pale rocks. Head back to Nikiti in the evening, or reserve a waterfront table in Vourvourou before kitchens close.

Kavourotrypes, Sarti, and Mount Athos views
Leave no later than 08:00 for Kavourotrypes, also known as Orange Beach, because its tiny turquoise coves and parking fill quickly. Continue to Sarti for lunch along the promenade and a swim on the broad beach facing the striking silhouette of Mount Athos. In the afternoon, drive south to Porto Koufo, a deep and tranquil natural harbor enclosed by cliffs. On the return journey, stop in Toroni for sunset beside the ancient fortress ruins.

Kassandra, Afitos, and Kallithea
Drive west to Afitos and spend the morning in the stone lanes around Agios Dimitrios Church and on terraces overlooking the Toroneos Gulf. Descend to Afitos Beach or continue to Kallithea Beach and the ruins of the Temple of Ammon Zeus. In the afternoon, browse Kallithea's main-street shops for beachwear, shoes, and Greek labels at more approachable prices than Sani's boutiques. Young travelers can stay for Ahoy or Pearl when they operate in summer, but should arrange return transport in advance rather than drive after a night out.

Sani and Thessaloniki before departure
If your flight is late, begin with a short walk in the Sani Wetlands or coffee overlooking the yachts at Sani Marina. Continue to Thessaloniki and allow at least three hours for Modiano Market, Aristotelous Square, and the White Tower promenade; kosher travelers can also collect a pre-arranged order from Chabad at 9 Salaminos Street. For air-conditioned shopping before departure, choose Mediterranean Cosmos, about 15 minutes from the airport, with Zara, Massimo Dutti, Nike, and Greek brands. From the airport
Thessaloniki Airport, SKG, is the gateway to Halkidiki. A pre-booked taxi typically costs ₪190-270 to Nea Moudania or Sani and takes 40-60 minutes, ₪280-400 to Kallithea or Nikiti in roughly 70-100 minutes, and ₪400-550 to Pefkochori or Vourvourou in about two hours, depending on traffic. Shared transfers sold by hotels or local operators usually cost ₪80-180 per person but involve waiting and multiple hotel stops; there is no train to the peninsula. By public transport, take a city bus or taxi from the airport to the KTEL Chalkidikis terminal in eastern Thessaloniki, then a regional bus to the main resorts, for a typical total of ₪35-75 and two to four hours.
Need a car?
Yes, a rental car is worthwhile for most Israeli travelers, especially families and anyone staying in Nikiti or Vourvourou who wants to hop between Kalogria, Kavourotrypes, Karidi, and Sarti. A couple staying at a Sani resort or a family on an all-inclusive package can manage with an airport transfer and taxis, while young travelers in Kallithea can walk to the beach and center but will still need taxis for clubs and other beaches. Intercity buses are adequate between towns, but frequencies are limited and they do not conveniently serve the finest coves.
Tips
Book an automatic car early for July and August, and verify that insurance covers glass, tires, and the underbody because some beach approaches are unpaved. Taxis are not as readily available as in Tel Aviv: Free Now mainly works in Thessaloniki and is unreliable across the peninsula, so ask your hotel for a local taxi number and agree on a nighttime pickup price in advance. Kassandra's main road suffers heavy traffic on Sunday afternoons, while parking at Kavourotrypes and Karidi fills before 10:00; never leave belongings visible in the car.

There is no permanent Chabad House in Halkidiki itself and no regular daily minyan in the resort areas. The nearest address is Chabad of Thessaloniki at 9 Salaminos Street in the city center, which hosts prayers and pre-booked Shabbat meals and may assist with kosher food orders. It is roughly an hour from Sani and generally 90-120 minutes from Nikiti or Pefkochori, so it is not practical as a spontaneous Shabbat visit.

The local secret I always share with couples and groups is Possidi Cape, where the sandbar changes shape with the currents and the sea surrounds you on both sides. Arrive after 17:30 with water and sea shoes, stay for sunset, and never park on the soft sand.
Skip
I do not recommend arriving at Kavourotrypes at midday in July or August: improvised parking, crowds and the roadside walk ruin the magic. Be there before 09:00, or choose a quieter cove south of Sarti.
Boutique pick
At 08:30 I would leave Vourvourou in a small license-free boat, anchor in the blue coves around Diaporos Island and swim in the Blue Lagoon before the large excursion boats arrive. At 14:00 we return for a relaxed lunch and a hotel break, then drive to Afitos at 18:30 for its stone houses and the viewpoint over Toroneos Gulf. I would finish around 21:00 with dinner on a terrace, followed by a drink on Kallithea’s main strip if you still have energy.
