Getting around
From the airport
The usual route from Israel is a flight to Geneva followed by a pre-booked shuttle to Tignes. The drive generally takes 3 to 4 hours and costs about ₪220-450 per person each way on a shared shuttle; a private vehicle transfer is roughly ₪1,300-2,200 each way. Lyon is also viable at around 3.5 to 4.5 hours, while Chambéry is closer but has limited flight availability.
Need a car?
Not for a standard ski holiday. Once there, lifts and free resort buses connect Val Claret, Le Lac and Le Lavachet well, while parking is expensive and limited; a car is mainly useful in summer, for stays in the lower villages or for combining other Alpine destinations.
Tips
Book the Geneva shuttle when booking your flight, especially on February changeover Saturdays, and leave a generous buffer before the return flight because of snow and traffic. In the resort, check the Navette Tignes schedule: service among the main quarters is free, but frequencies to Les Brévières and Tignes 1800 differ.
