Why stay in Podgorica?

Podgorica is less a classic city break and more an affordable, authentic gateway to Montenegro, with the airport just outside the capital. Start with cafés and restaurants in Nova Varoš, then explore the Millennium Bridge, the Morača and Ribnica rivers, Independence Square and atmospheric Stara Varoš. Israeli visitors often pair a night or two here with shopping at BIG Fashion, a tour of the vast Plantaže winery, or trips to the local Niagara Falls and Lake Skadar. It is an excellent base for discovering inland Montenegro before continuing to Kotor, Budva or the mountainous north.
