Over Hanukkah, the winter break and Purim the hotels fill with Hebrew, the instructors shout "pizza" in our language, and après-ski rolls from a hot khachapuri on the slope to the hotel bar. Non-skiers get a proper snow holiday: the Friendship Monument and its famous viewpoint, a tandem paragliding flight over the resort, Ananuri Fortress on the way up and a snowy day in Kazbegi 40 minutes away. All of it a direct three-hour flight from Tel Aviv, visa-free and without emptying your savings.
