Why stay in Northern Cyprus?

Northern Cyprus is a nearby Mediterranean escape with a Middle Eastern twist, combining golden beaches, casino resorts, historic harbors and the dramatic Kyrenia Mountains. Israeli travelers usually base themselves around Kyrenia, explore its horseshoe-shaped harbor and castle, and stay at resorts such as Elexus or Kaya Palazzo for pools, beaches and gaming nights. Bellapais Abbey, the walled old city of Famagusta and the wild Golden Beach on the Karpaz Peninsula add culture and nature beyond the resort scene. As the territory is not internationally recognized as a separate state, the simplest route for most Israelis is usually a flight to Larnaca followed by an overland crossing with a passport and suitable insurance.
