White City and Port Baku
Port Baku Mall, the Crescent Bay waterfront and White City's new boulevards create a polished version of Baku with elegant restaurants and Gucci, Burberry and BOSS shopping. Bilgah and Mardakan

On the return journey, stop at Bibi-Heybat Mosque and a viewpoint over the oil fields, reaching the boulevard toward evening.

Fire Temple, Yanar Dag and Absheron beaches

From the airport
From Heydar Aliyev International Airport, central Baku is about 25 to 35 minutes without traffic and up to 50 minutes at rush hour. Bolt or Uber Azerbaijan generally costs ₪20-40; an official taxi outside the terminal may cost ₪45-75, so agree on the fare or book through an app. The Aero Express shuttle reaches 28 May via Koroglu in roughly 30 to 40 minutes for about ₪2-4, though it is less convenient with children and luggage. A prebooked private transfer normally costs ₪70-130 per car, while Bilgah or Sea Breeze resorts are around 20 to 35 minutes away and ₪25-60 by app.
Need a car?
You do not need a car in central Baku: the Old City, Nizami Street and boulevard are walkable, while the metro and app taxis are inexpensive. Families, couples and young groups are usually better off hiring a driver for Gobustan, the mud volcanoes, Ateshgah and Yanar Dag rather than dealing with local driving and parking. A rental makes sense mainly for an independent trip to Shamakhi, Lahic, Gabala or Sheki; expect speed cameras, assertive driving and insurance terms that need careful checking.
Tips
Install both Bolt and Uber Azerbaijan and compare fares; during rush hour drivers sometimes cancel short trips, so leave extra time before a reservation or flight. Buy and top up a BakuCard for the metro and buses, but remember that the metro does not enter the Old City itself. Do not drive into Icherisheher's lanes: they are narrow, partly one-way and parking is restricted; if the funicular to Highland Park is closed, use a taxi instead.
