Zvartnots Airport is about 12 km from Republic Square, and the trip downtown usually takes 20–35 minutes. Airport Express bus 201 reaches central Yerevan in about 35–50 minutes for only a few shekels, though it is inconvenient with luggage or after a late arrival. There is no airport train, while a pre-booked private hotel transfer generally costs ₪55–100 per vehicle.
Need a car?
You do not need a car within Yerevan: the center is compact, taxis are inexpensive, and parking around Republic Square, the Opera, and the Cascade is frustrating. Couples and younger groups are better off using Yandex Go and booking a group tour or driver for Garni, Geghard, Khor Virap, and Sevan. Families seeking flexibility, or travelers continuing to Dilijan and Gyumri, may rent a car, but in winter a local driver familiar with snowy roads is the safer choice.
Tips
Install both Yandex Go and GG before flying; entering the destination in the app avoids fare disputes, and cash remains useful if a foreign card is rejected. Do not accept an unsolicited taxi near an attraction before checking the app price.
